Their Mouths Filled With Earth, February 2015
Grizzly Grizzly is excited to announce its February exhibition, 'Their Mouths Filled With Earth', featuring paintings by Christopher Davison, Matthew Hansel and Anthony Miler. This visceral group exhibition explores three artists' relationships to image making through the lens of portraiture.
The artists – based in Philadelphia and New York– push toward different modes of representation, constructing confrontational imagery that conveys the nuances of the human condition. Using the conventional mode of portraiture as a base, the works in the exhibition communicate visual innovations and new conceptual agendas that re-contextualize the contemporary dialog of painting.
